Public Transport

Frankfurt's local transport consists of commuter trains, streetcars, buses and an underground system. The Verkehrsgesellschaft Frankfurt am Main - or Frankfurt Transport Authority (VGF) - is Frankfurt's main public transport operator. The public transit system in Frankfurt is also part of the Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund (RMV) who is the operator of one of Germany's largest public transport networks. There are several types of tickets to buy whether you are a day guest or travelling in a group. Tickets can be bought from four sales outlets of VGF, (Hauptwache, Konstablerwache, Bornheim Mitte underground station, Höchst station) including from ticket machines, card-o-mat machines and at numerous private sales outlets. You can also get your ticket on the bus. Weekly, monthly and annual tickets can be ordered online. Tourists can also purchase a "Frankfurt Card" with unlimited travel, discounts at museums and guided city tours. The card is available at visitor information centres, travel agencies, the main train station and the airport.
